Vedha and murti: why a good transit sometimes gives nothing

A favourable transit is not the whole calculation. Classical gochara adds two corrections that most yearly horoscopes leave out, and each sign's page above applies both to every transit in this list. Vedha means obstruction: a planet in a favourable house from your Moon can be blocked by another planet standing in one specific other house, and for as long as it stands there the good result is held back. Murti is the form a planet takes for the whole of a sign transit, read from where the Moon stood at the exact moment the planet changed sign, counted from your own Moon sign — so one ingress gives a different form to each of the twelve signs, and two people under the same transit do not get the same year.

The four forms (murti) a transit can take

• A golden form (swarna murti) — the strongest of the four, so it gives its results fully.
• A silver form (rajata murti) — favourable, so most of the result comes through.
• A copper form (taamra murti) — unfavourable, so even a good transit delivers less than it promises.
• An iron form (loha murti) — the weakest of the four, so expect little from a good transit and more from a hard one.

How these horoscopes are calculated

Each sign's page counts where Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu fall from that Moon sign through 2027, using real planetary positions, and gives the classical result for each house from the traditional gochara tables. The slow planets matter most for a yearly reading because they stay in a sign for months or years. Dates can differ by a few days from other almanacs that use a different ayanamsha.
